Implementing Google’s Search Engine in Your ASP.NET Application

Google, one of the most used search engines on the Internet, has recently provided a set of APIs that allow developers to add search functionalities to their applications. In the last year we have read about the great new features provided by the use of Web Services. They provide data exchange using TCP/IP protocols such as HTTP and SMTP, using a standard text file format: XML. However, until now, we have seen only very simple Web Services such as ZIP code and free Short Message Service (SMS) message sending services. Google APIs are one of the first concrete examples of Web Services. In this article we will see how to use Google APIs in order to implement search functionality in an ASP.NET application.< \p>

Sitemaps – Uncover the Only Quick and Easy Site Submission Strategy

What is the easiest and quickest way to get your site spidered
and listed by Google and Yahoo?

This is an enternal question, one that many frustrated SEO
specialists and online business owners are still trying to
figure out. The trick to answering this question is to find out
exactly what Google and Yahoo want you to do to get listed; not
what you THINK they want you to do. That being said, the tried
and true methods to get your pages indexed and listed by Google
and Yahoo have been the following:

1. Blogging and Pinging

2. Submit your website through the standard submission form
provided by Yahoo and Google

3. Pay a search engine submission service to do it for you

4. Figure out how to create a Sitemap for each of the engines to
get the spiders to come to your site (you still have to manually
submit)

These are all decent methods. However, the problems with 3 of
these methods are many, and here are just a few:

1. Blog and Ping and submission forms are all slow ways to get
listed. Who has that kind of time?

2. Search Engine Submission services can be expensive

3. Using an automated search engine submission service can get
you banned, if the search engines think that you are “spamming”

Of all the methods listed above, both Google and Yahoo prefer
that you create a sitemap and then submit your site to them. You
create a database file that contains information about ALL of
your web pages. You then load that file onto your website and
then let Google know where that file is. Google is extremely
specific about how the database should be submitted, which is in
XML format.

By submitting your website in this way, you are cutting down on
their overhead by a huge amount. You see, when you submit the
old-fashioned way, using the standard submission form we talked
about earlier, Google and Yahoo have to convert your information
to the database XML format themselves. As you can imagine, this
takes time, especially with the zillions of webpages that are
submitted daily. So, those sites that are submitted in the
manner and format that Google and Yahoo are already using will
get their pages spidered faster…do you see the logic here?
Using this process, you are enabling them to visit many MORE of
your web pages quickly and easy. This is exactly what Google and
Yahoo want you to do.

By submitting your sitemap in the preferred format, you will
accomplish the following:

1. Save enormous amounts of your cherished time and money.

2. You don’t risk getting banned

3. You will get Google and Yahoo to spider the pages of your
site faster.

So, if you want to get your site spidered, and therefore listed,
faster, you must create and submit the sitemap. In theory, the
search engines can list your pages whenever they want. In
reality, until you get them to spider your webpages, you will
never get them listed!

What In The World Are Reciprocal Links?

Abstract: Promotion Search Engine Submission
Tag:

No one told me how important traffic was when I first started working online. To me, a neophyte to the internet marking thing, traffic was something that I was avoiding by working from home, now all of a sudden I needed this stuff.

Traffic, I was to later find out, was about how many visitors came to my site, sort of like potential customers browsing through a department store. These browsing customers can turn into buying customers if they find what they are looking for. Now before they can find what they are looking for in my store (website) they must first find that store.

There are a number of ways to let the potential customer know where your store (website) is. You can let the customer know where you are by advertising in internet newsletters. You can let the potential customer know where you are by advertising in magazine, both electronic and paper, or the most common way is through search engine submission. What I want to address in this article is letting your potential customer know where you are by an often overlooked, method of reciprocal links.

The concept behind a reciprocal link is that I’ll put a link to your site on link page if you put a link to me on yours. Now the goal of reciprocal links is to increase the relevancy of ranking by search engines. Search engine place a value on not just how many site you link to but also on how many sites link back to you. Now if that number of site linking back to you is good, this may increase your ranking on some search engines.

Watch out for junk links

Did I say relevancy? Yes your links have got to be links that naturally have a synergy to your site or you may even be penalized for the link. That’s right the search engine may consider your links full of junk a way of spamming them.

Now there are a lot of link farms that a webmaster can join and gain link popularity overnight. Most of the old veterans would tell you that search engine consider them another form of spamming them and that you should not join one.

So how do I get these links on my site you asked? Search for your key words find relevant site to you own and contact the webmaster and ask! That right I said it ask your competitor! Contact a webmaster of a site you want to create a reciprocal link with and just ask. Here’s a note of suggestion link up if possible! Try to link to sites that have a higher rating then you this can only increase your popularity.

The Book Dotcomology gives some important information on the proper etiquette in requesting a reciprocal link from another site. Here are the highlights to this format

• Before you contact the webmaster place a link to their site on your home page, this will assure them that you will actually provide a high quality link.

• When emailing them create a subject line that will encourage them to read your message rather then deleting it. Something about their site or a product they sell will major than likely catch their attention.

• Begin you message by talking about their site and what you thought was interesting about it

• Detail your product and asked to exchange links with them

• Let them know exactly where they can find their link on your site.

• Explain to them that if you do not hear from them within 2 weeks that you will consider it a negative response and remove their link form your site.

Today search engines are increasing the import of relevant links t your site and to stay or get to the top of search engine ranking you need every advantage you can get, so don’t overlook the need for reciprocal links.
